International leader for leadership training, International Mediator, Executive Top Coach, Anthropologist, writer, columnist.
In 2003, in a maximum security prison, Aldo met with the leader of an armed group. That first conversation was transformed into a series of meetings that eventually led Aldo to become a facilitator of ceasefire negotiations. To develop his services as a facilitator, Aldo used a variety of sophisticated skills to communicate, under incredible stress, to build trust with extremely difficult people and to understand the mental model of his interlocutors.
A powerful storyteller, Aldo enchants his audience from beginning to end, by sharing his inspiring experiences as a catalyst for the change of leaders and organizations around the world, from Hong Kong to London, from Dubai to New York, from Cairo to Bogota.
Aldo inspires people to become extraordinary leaders, developing the dimensions of calm, authentic connection, and creativity. Using his own experience in resolving international conflicts, Aldo invites his interlocutors to rethink the conflict as an opportunity for personal and organizational development. His message: “Stop arguing about who is right and explore each other’s history,” exemplifies their approach and philosophy, which are also used by mediation teachers to solve the most complex problems.
Aldo sums it up like this: ”In our complex and interdependent reality, leadership is a creative act. It is the ability to anticipate and innovate. When you lead through listening and observation, you access unexplored resources, allowing transformation and change. In fact, one does not get the success he deserves, but the success he negotiates. Therefore, by modeling the principles, skills, and strategies of high-level negotiators, you can reach the highest levels of leadership and become a catalyst for change. ”
Aldo has more than 25 years of experience in conflict resolution. Senator George Mitchell, who made history by bringing peace to Northern Ireland and was president of Disney Corporation, defines Aldo as: “one of the most innovative leaders in the field of conflict resolution and leadership development” . The executive coach of Steve Jobs, John Mattone, considers Aldo as: “one of the best executive coaches with whom I have worked worldwide.” Today its clients include multinational corporations, large family businesses, national governments and even some sports and entertainment celebrities.
Author of four books, Aldo received his PhD from Columbia University in socio-cultural anthropology in 2008. He is a professor of conflict resolution at Columbia University. He is a member of the board of directors of the Abigail Disney Foundation, Peace is Loud, and the Mi Sangre Foundation of the multi-awarded musician and singer Juanes.
