Christina Salmivalli holds a PhD in Psychology and Professor in Finland at the Faculty of Education, University of Turku. She has 25 years of experience in research on bullying and its prevention.
Dr. Salmivalli is the principal investigator of the evaluation of the KiVa program, a program to prevent and tackle harassment in schools that has been developed at the University of Turku, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. KiVa started in 2007 and has already been implemented in 90% of Finnish schools and has been exported to more than a dozen countries, including Holland, UK, Belgium, Italy, Estonia, Sweden, and the United States. Prof. Salmivalli has published numerous research articles and scientific publications and has been in charge of numerous large-scale projects, funded by the Academy of Finland and other Finnish and European funding organizations
