Founder of SELIDER
I am Javier Prieto de la Fuente, proudly native of Monterrey, Mexico. I am a member of a large family of eight brothers, with them I learned values that have been the mainstay of my life like: congruence, honesty, respect and love.
I am a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Tecnológico of Monterrey, where I was part of the national champion of 1974 football team; there I forged part of my spirit and character; I got an MBA at Carnegie Mellon University with a scholarship from Rotary International Foundation, who I reserve a profound gratitude.
I have 30 years in professional life, I have participated in both the private sector and the public; I have assumed various responsibilities in different companies, organizations, institutions and foundations such as Cemex, the National Cement Chamber, the Confederation of Production Cement Caribbean, the Mexican Foreign Trade Council, the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico (CONCAMIN) the Consultative Advisory Council of the Leaders of APEC, the Council of Economic Cooperation Asia-Pacific, among others.
I participated at the invitation of President Ernesto Zedillo and later ratified by President Vicente Fox as Director in the Advisory Council APEC leaders; I have worked with more administrations in building a better country for future generations.
I founded SELIDER in 1988, now a national organization that promotes youth leadership. Also, I have a great team that helped me consolidate @Red Entrepreneurs, as an initiative of citizen participation that promotes social entrepreneurship and highlights young people with strong leadership that have faced the challenge of solving problems in their communities.
Recently I performed duties as Associate Vice-rector of Alumni of Tecnológico de Monterrey.
I am currently Vice President of the Oxford Leadership Academy Mexico, the leading European organization in promoting business leadership.
Throughout my life, I’ve had the objective to distinguish myself as a real human being who takes the values rooted in my core family background, to share them in my community and within my staff nearby, committing to objectives established in every project that I choose and develop; I focus with a collaborative approach that seeks to integrate a lot of citizens into the activities, that challenge the circumstances which could present difficulties and continue firmly looking to reach constant transformation and renewal.
