Leonel Narváez Gómez is a priest and sociologist of the Consolata Missionaries and current president of the Foundation for Reconciliation, a non-profit organization founded on 2003 by a group of Colombian friends led by him.
The Foundation for Reconciliation designs and implements proposals within the framework of a Political Culture of Forgiveness and Reconciliation to facilitate the peaceful resolution of conflicts, prevention and overcoming of violence, thus contributing to the construction of a sustainable peace. Under the premise of making forgiveness and reconciliation an essential element for the solution of conflicts and the achievement of peace, he began to consolidate the idea with the help and advice of interdisciplinary experts from the American universities of Wisconsin, Harvard and Cambridge.
Based on the initial theoretical developments and the experience that Narvaez had gained as a facilitator in the negotiations between the Colombian government and the guerrilla chiefs of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the People’s Army (FARC-EP) in the 1990s, he developed a proposal that finds its motivational seed in the project “Territorios de Paz”.
Since 2003, multipliers of pedagogical models have been trained in 18 countries around the world, creating networks in the neighborhood, parish, business, school, university, and family, thus collaborating with the advent of peace and progress of communities and people.
